The Assistant Site Supervisor/Lead supports the Site Supervisor in running site operations by helping to manage people, MHEs and the client relationship. They assist in distributing material handling equipment to various locations on site, supervise operators, and monitor MHE maintenance and batteries. This includes maintaining inventory levels, data entry of incoming and outgoing materials, and general warehouse duties. The Assistant Site Supervisor deputises for the Site Supervisor in their absence.
Responsibilities
a. Prepare and send the daily site operations report (WhatsApp and main reports) at the specified time; cover for the Site Supervisor when they are unavailable.
b. Attend the daily operations meeting where site challenges are discussed and tasks assigned, and follow up on actions assigned to the site team.
c. Support the Site Supervisor in conducting site tours, BOS and site risk assessments so that near misses and dangers are identified and corrected.
d. Liaise with shift technicians on the execution of planned maintenance and help oversee maintenance activities, repairs and cleaning.
e. Check and validate MHE checklists.
f. Carry out the daily spare part stock count and check and balance.
g. Conduct shift toolbox training and safety briefings with operators, and deputise when the Site Supervisor is unavailable.
h. Together with the technician, carry out the daily MHE inspection and identify and correct faults and defects.
i. Carry out weekly driver’s licence and fire extinguisher tracker checks to ensure they are valid and up to date, and flag expiring items to the Site Supervisor.
j. Carry out weekly checks on pending operator issues (HMO, salary, PPEs, etc.) and raise concerns with the Site Supervisor and HR.
k. Support the daily availability reconciliation and work to ensure no downtime.
l. Attend the daily meeting with the client’s representative on issues and pending challenges on site, and escalate unresolved issues to the Site Supervisor.
m. Monitor and supervise battery cleaning, garage cleaning, MHE cleaning, 5S and good housekeeping daily.
n. Maintain inventory records and data entry of incoming and outgoing materials.
Check and respond to email, WhatsApp, etc., and carry out other tasks assigned by the Site Supervisor or Regional Manager.
Requirements
• BSc or HND in Sciences or Engineering
• Three (3) years in fleet management, warehouse or operations management.
• Two (2) years supervising people, or working as a team lead or shift supervisor.
• Working knowledge of safety, health and environmental procedures and work instructions.
• Experience in fleet and MHE maintenance will be an added advantage.
• Forklift certification is necessary
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Analytical, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, as well as within a team
• Basic computer skills, including knowledge of inventory management software
• Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment
• Good organisation and time-management skills
• Strong communication skills
